SSC Constable (Executive) Recruitment Exam 2020

Staff Selection Commission (SSC) is a central government organization that conducts recruitment for Group B, Group C and certain other posts in various departments of the government of India every year. This August, SSC has come out with job advertisement for the post of ‘Constable (Executive) Male and Female’ in the Delhi Police. This follows as per the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between Delhi Police and SSC. Constable in Delhi Police is a prestigious Group C post with ample career growth opportunities that requires candidates to maintain law and order in their place of posting within the National Capital Territory (NCT) of Delhi.

Recruitment Details

The online applications got opened on 1st August 2020 and can be filled and submitted till 7th September 2020 (23:30). The last date for making online fee payment is 9th September 2020 (23:30) while the last date for generation of offline challan is 11th September 2020 (23:30). The last date for payment through challan (during working hours of bank) is 14th September 2020. Last but not the least, the date of Computer Based Examination (CBE) is 27th November 2020 to 14th December 2020. This Constable post lies in pay level 3 (Rs 21,700 – 69,100) of the 7th CPC pay matrix. The total number of vacancies lies at 5,846, spread across male, female, reserved and open categories.

Eligibility

The candidate must be a citizen of India and 18-25 years old as on 1st July 2020, i.e., shouldn’t have been born before 2nd July 1995 and after 1st July 2002. Relaxations in upper age limit exist for reserved category candidates. As far as essential educational qualifications are concerned, as on 7th September 2020, the candidate must be 10+2 (Senior Secondary) passed from a recognized Board. This norm can be relaxed up to 11th passed in case of sons / daughters of serving, retired or deceased Delhi Police personnel, including its MTS staff. 11th pass is also the criterion for bandsmen, buglers, mounted constables, drivers, dispatch riders etc. of Delhi Police only. Male candidates must also have a valid driving license for LMV (Motor Cycle or Car) as on the date of Physical Endurance & Measurement Test (PE & MT). Also, incentive in marks will be given to NCC certificate holders.

Examination Scheme

As far as the scheme of examination is concerned, there will be 3 stages – Computer Based Examination (CBE), PE & MT, and finally document verification and medical examination. The CBE will have 100 questions carrying 100 marks with 1/4 negative marking for every wrong answer. There will be 50 questions of General Knowledge / Current Affairs, 25 questions of Reasoning, 15 questions of Numerical Ability and 10 questions of Computer Fundamentals, all to be attempted in a maximum of 90 minutes. The CBE will be conducted in English and Hindi only. CBE will be followed by PE & MT, wherein candidates will be required to exhibit physical fitness in the rounds of race, long jump and high jump. Next, the measurement round comprising of height and chest measurement takes place for those who clear the endurance round. This stage is followed by the medical examination wherein candidates need to exhibit proper vision, be free from colour blindness, and meet all other medical criteria laid beforehand.
